On 11 December 2014 Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi and Fr Fidel González presented the new Diccionario de Historia Cultural de la Iglesia en América Latina the result of an initiative of the Pontifical Council for Culture. The Dicastery had gathered together representatives of episcopal conferences of Latin America in 2006 and it was that meeting which gave birth to the idea of an organised, systematic collection of short essays and articles by many writers converging on the common theme: what role has the Church played in bringing the Latin American Continent to its current situation.
The dictionary is in Spanish and Portughese and for a more detailed explanation you are invited to visit the site or read the press releases in Spanish, Italian, or Portughese
